Hayefield Manor by Jody Klaire

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A great mystery!

Lady Sophie Haye isn’t your average lady of the manor but when strange goings on at the Manor land Morgan on a case as a private investigator, she gets more than she bargained for. There is much mystery at Hayefield Manor that has Morgan confused and suspicious of who may be involved, but one thing is certain of it that the number one suspect, Sophie isn’t guilty but the more she looks into the case, the less sure she is. Morgan finds herself swept away by Sophie, and she has to make a choice and either walk away or trust Sophie.

Such a thrill to read this mystery. It had me hooked from the very first chapter and left me intrigued. Sophie Haye was someone mysterious and wonderful that had me wondering all about her. I was just as captivated as Morgan by her in her entirety and although she probably would be quite terrifying, and was supposed to be, it just made me love her more. I could totally imagine being swept up in all she was and easily swayed into believing anything she said. She was charming, charismatic, and she had this air about her that you would be wary but unable to stay away from her. There was something very special about Sophie and I had no idea what but all I knew when I was reading was that I had to read on; I wanted to know everything I could about Sophie.

The mystery surrounding Sophie and the Manor was very clever. It threw in red herrings, had uncertainty and things that just didn’t make sense until it all came together. There was no way you could have predicted or guessed all that was involved and you’d certainly get drawn into all the mystery of Sophie and her family as Morgan uncovered the clues with you as the reader. It was on the edge of your seat read that I just couldn’t put down.

A clever plot, fantastic mystery and beautifully imaginative story that only Jody could create. I adored the story and although we got so much about Sophie in this story, I just haven’t had enough of her yet and hope for more in future! I can’t recommend this story enough as it was brilliantly put together, offered a lot of adventure and drama and was just fantastic!
