She Serves the Realm by Lee Swanson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Exciting adventure!

With the death of Lady Cecily’s husband, she and Christina are free to marry, but before they can the King has a mission for Christina. On another adventure, with new companions, Christina has everything to fight for to return home safely.

The adventure continues in another amazing installment in the No Man Is Her Master series. Christina is facing many challenges throughout the story, while adjusting to being sent on a mission she hadn’t imagined being a part of and with all new companions she must get to know along the way. It’s not just a case of keeping herself alive to return safely, things take unexpected turns that also present her with tasks of protecting those accompanying her, and one in particular who also needs saving from themselves. So, all of this is no easy feat for her, but she’s clever, determined, and so strong, I had every faith in her succeeding.

It really was a turbulent adventure. It drew on Christina’s and Cecily’s emotions heavily, which supported just how difficult this was for both of them. While Christina had the mission and faced danger, Cecily had challenges of her own in making sure there was favour in accepting their wish to be married upon Christina’s return. Knowing these characters from the previous book in the series was imperative to being emotionally connected to them throughout this story. I would recommend reading at least book 3 before starting this one, but if you haven’t Lee gives enough for you to understand what has transpired before to bring them to this point.

Really enjoyed the story! It’s a great adventure, really draws you in and keeps you hopeful and hooked from the start.
